Shelbyville / Shelby County Parks and Recreation offers a wide variety of recreation activities and programs for all age levels and abilities.  Our hub of the park system is Clear Creek Park which is over 130 acres and offers a wide range of activities from multiple youth sports leagues to outdoor activities such as fitness track, 9 Hole golf course/range, multiple playgrounds, pickleball, tennis, and much more!

A great addition to Clear Creek Park is our five million dollar Family Activity Center. The FAC was opened in 2000 and offers indoor and outdoor swimming, fitness area, fitness classes, basketball gym, indoor walking/running track, adult and youth sport programs, after school care, summer camps and an administrative area.

Lake Shelby is the oldest of our facilities and is connected to Clear Creek Park. This facility offers RV and primitive camping, nature trails, canoeing, kayaking, fishing, fish frys and many outdoor activities.

Red Orchard Park was donated in 2007 by Clarence Miller and is a nature lovers paradise. This 131 acre park offers a play pod fitness nature trail for children and adults, horse trails, hiking trails, horse arena, 5 acre dog park, the Miller Outdoor Education Center, and facility rentals.

Shelby Trail Park was donated in 2010 by Dr. Roger & Diane Shott. This 462 acre nature preserve and equestrian park offers miles of horse back, hiking and running trails, horse stables and boarding, indoor riding arena, riding lessons and guided trail rides.

Finchville Park gives you that small town feel and country charm.  Located in Finchville, KY about 5 miles south of Shelbyville this 11 acre park offers a picnic shelter with meeting room, outdoor grill, 1 mile walking path, children’s playground, athletic field and small pond with wildlife viewing opportunities.

Clear Creek Greenway Trail:  Phase 1 of the Clear Creek Greenway Trail was completed in 2015.  Phase 1 runs approximately 1 mile one way from 7th Street in Shelbyville near the rail road bridge to Stratton Bottom Park along Clear Creek.  This trail is a concrete/paved trail ideal for walking, running, bicycles, rollerblades, and others along the shaded creek bank of Clear Creek.  No motorized vehicles are allowed.  Phase 2 and 3 will eventually connect Clear Creek Park/Lake Shelby with Red Orchard Park on the south side of Shelbyville on Kentucky Street and will be approximately 5.5 miles one-way.
