About Us
Shelbyville - Shelby County Parks and
Recreation Board was established as a
joint board of city-county government in
February of 1970. The Board
consists of nine members of which four
are county representatives, four are
city representatives and the ninth is a
joint representative. The board
oversees and operates twelve park
properties consisting of over 240 acres.
The main park is Clear Creek Park which
is over 130 acres and offers a wide
range of activities from athletics to
outdoor activities such as camping and
canoeing.
The newest addition to Clear Creek Park
is our five million dollar Family
Activity Center. The FAC offers
indoor and outdoor swimming, fitness
area and fitness classes, gym, indoor
walking/running track, adult and youth
sport programs, after school care,
summer camps and an administrative area.
Lake Shelby is the oldest of our
facilities and is connected to Clear
Creek Park. This facility offers
RV and primitive camping, natural
trails, canoeing, fishing and many
outdoor programs. We also offer
weekend programs for our overnight
camping guests.
The citizens of Shelby County are proud
of their park system and believe it is
one of the finest park systems in the
state. Our fees are very
competitive and we offer something for
everyone. We welcome out-of-county
guest and hope they will find our
facilities clean and enjoyable.
Please check out the rest of this site
